As I mended clothing the other day I started thinking about how to re-purpose and re-cycle clothing. My guilty pleasure is watching Project Runway on Bravo TV, even the reruns. I would love to have the skill to whip up something fabulous from clothing I no longer use. Sadly, my sewing skills are generally limited to sewing buttons and hemming pants and skirts. I have been known to sew garments but my best efforts, and the only pieces I still have in my closet, were a couple of side tie skirts that required no buttons or zippers. On the bright side, I do have skills other than those that include fabric and sewing. Craft is right up my alley. Their About page says it best:

“CRAFT’s goal is to unite, inspire, inform and entertain a growing community of highly imaginative and resourceful people who are transforming traditional art and crafts with unconventional, unexpected and even renegade techniques, materials and tools…”

Craft magazine is available in print or digital versions. They also offer a podcast. There are numerous projects on their website blog. Check out the Plastic Bag Crafts article that shows you how to create crocheted plastic bag purses, a fused plastic bag tote, even a plastic bag raincoat. Now that’s recycling!
