The answer to the paper or plastic question is “neither”. Keep reusable grocery bags in your car, keep a small shopping bag in your purse, or just refuse any kind of bag when you have a few items that you can hand-carry. In the meantime, carry on Cristen…

I bought a set of the bags”as advertised on TV” from Fred Meyer store and have been using them for a few weeks. I have to say that I think they do help extend the life of veggies and fruits. I did have one tear on the side of a bag but repaired it with scotch tape. These bags are expensive so they need to be cared for carefully. I have ordered more bags and a tiny tote to carry in my purse too even tho I can recycle the outer grocery bags locally they can’t use the flimsy veggie bags so have ordered those as well. Still it takes energy just to convert all these plastic bags into energy that goes on line.

I agree. According to reusablebags.com, only 1 to 3% of plastic bags end up getting recycled. Not using plastic bags in the first place is the best thing since energy is required to convert them to something else when they are recycled. Glad to hear you bought a tiny tote for your purse. It’s so easy to whip out whenever you need a bag. I know you already use reusable grocery bags. Keep up the good efforts!
