Verda Vivo

Verda Vivo means “Green Life” in the universal language of Esperanto.

About January 12, 2008

Daryl and MikeWelcome to Verda Vivo. My name is Daryl Warner Laux.

Verda Vivo means “green living” in the language of Esperanto, a constructed international language. This site reflects my passion for environmental issues, climate change, conservation, pollution, recycling, organics and ”going green”.

I grew up on a potato farm on Long Island, New York with my two sisters, horses, dogs, and cats. Our neighbors were all family and no one locked their doors. We had our own baseball field, a huge family garden (enough for 5 families) and sold strawberries in the summer when we had too many. We even had our own family business on the farm, Warner Potato Chips. I am a farm girl at heart and believe firmly that we need to take care of our land and resources.

I started this blog in October 2007 because I wanted to keep a record of the things I learned as I researched how to live more “greenly”. I’m far from perfect but keep learning and do the best I can to live sustainably.

I hope you enjoy Verda Vivo.

I am a bit more tardy on this response than the others, but I am so thrilled there are more people in the world that think like I do. I frequent your blog often and thought I would leave a response this visit. Thanks for posting all of your wonderful information. :)

Shelly, Thanks for the kind words. I was feeling a bit discouraged because I lot half my feeds the other day and couldn’t figure out why. Sometimes I love/hate technology. Your comment today really gave me a lift. Daryl

    > Daryl : what kind of reader do you use for your feeds ? I use netvibes, it works really fine !

(if you need more info on it, don’t hesitate to send me an e-mail)

Your blog is great, it is one of the happy few I am proud to add to my blogroll. Keep up the good work ! :)

Thank you, Edouard, for your comment. I use feedburner and think the problem might have been related to some new software I was trying out. After I uninstalled the software, all was well. Go figure. ~ Daryl

    Hello! :]
I love your blog and I’m glad I met someone who cares about the environment and “going green.” ;D
I wish everyone cooperated…with going green
Hahah, i stopped drinking soda since 2008..it was my New Year’s resolution and now i’m completely away from soda! I hate it now!

  8. Verda Vivo Says:

iv3kr, So glad to hear that you’re not drinking soda! After I kicked my Diet Mountain Dew habit, I don’t like the taste either. As for going green, if we all did our part the world would have less garbage and more resources. I’m still amazed when people don’t recycle! Garbage companies make it pretty easy these days. Thanks for your comment – hope to see more from you! ~ Daryl

Great work, go to my web site and add some more arrows to your green quiver.
